Give a Dog a Bone Program
Rancho Coastal Humane Society’s Community Pet Food Bank provides food and other supplies for people on fixed incomes, the sick and disabled, working families that struggle financially, and the homeless. “We’re not here to judge. We’re here to keep people and their pets together.”
Every Thursday, they provide pet food and supplies for between 65 and 85 pets at the Food Pantry at St. Andrew’s Church. One of the most popular and appreciated items they distribute is dog treats. They do not always have treats, but when they are able to give dog owners treats for their buddies, they are so excited!
Our preschool is starting a program to assist in the need for dog treats. Each of the classes will be making dog treats (from scratch) during the weeks of September 29 through October 10. The dog treats will then be donated to RCHS for distribution at St. Andrew’s Church.
One of their favorite quotes from author Jack London. “A bone to the dog is not charity. Charity is the bone shared with the dog, when you are just as hungry as the dog”
